Khev'stas'stan, Commander of Xuul Assault Force 322, Captain of Oblivion
Location: In orbit around Kahtreem, in Oblivion
Galstandard Date: Year 3987, August 20th
Khev'stas'stan gazed out the smooth diamond window onto the surface of Kahtreem. The planet had been devastated by the Plague assault, and vast portions of the disputed continent were visibly covered over with Plague biomass. The devastation was similarly visible.
Those around him felt his pity and despair at the state of the planet. Then he regained his composure and turned to the general.
"Status report."
"Unchanged, Commander. The Plague have gained no ground, but he have been unable to drive them back."
"Is the Iridium Nexus secure?"
"Yes, sir."
Khev'stas'stan turned away, dismissing the general with a wave of his hand. The general returned to the shuttleport and left for the planet.
The Commander was pressed for time and running out of options. The encampments were secure for now, but unless he brought in reinforcements they would surely fall. And the Iridium Nexus was vital to protect. If the encampments fell to the Plague, they would get to it. They would start to mine it away and charge it, using it to enhance their soldiers. It was incredibly important to both sides. So important that the entire Kahtreem war had begun to revolve solely around it.
The Iridium Nexus was the only natural deposit of Iridium found outside of asteroids. It was massive, as well; far more than what could be found in an asteroid. The Xuul would not dare to mine it until they had more bases surrounding it, but of course the Plague would start right away if they got their hands on it...
A thought struck him. He approached the projector and contacted the general.
"I have an idea."

Junl'kaev'eft, Stealth Assassin for Khev'stas'stan
Location: Kahtreem, Continent 3, Plaguemorphed Assault Center
Galstandard Date: Year 3987, August 20th
Junl'kaev'eft wasn't seen. That was her way.
Her mind was quieter than anyone's she had even known, yet she heard more of the thoughts of those around her than was thought possible.
She was an assassin.
Installation 112, an Assault Center, had been transformed into a mechanical Plaguemorph. This Plaguemorph was connected psychically to its controller, Jack Reiger. Reiger has been transformed into one of the most deadly forms of human Plaguemorphs, which was a shame, really, because he was one of the forefront supporters of getting the Centaurian colonies involved in the Delta Quadrant War. Honestly, there weren't many of them left, and now she had to kill one of them.
If she failed, Plaguemorph Reiger would get access to some very important weapon designs, using a whole new principle of Iridium charging. The idea behind hiding the plans here was that the Plague would most likely destroy this Assault Center, along with the plans, if they got to it.
Smart.
She moved deeper into the installation. It was unnerving, really. Here and there there would be pulsating Plague biomass that had burst out of the walls, held in check by only a weak membrane supported by a net of hardened Plagueform corpses. Where these deposits weren't, the floor was still covered in slime: all the neutralized acid that leaked out of the dead Plagueforms had to go somewhere.
Despite these destractions, she pressed on. Eventually she came upon a locked door. She had an access card for this facility, but the access panel was covered over in dried slime and useless.
She focused her mind on the door, willing it to leap out at it and grab it. She ripped it from its foundations, crushed it into a ball of twisted metal and let it drop to the floor. Not her usual style, but most things she would see here were probably deaf anyway.
She came upon another Plague bulge. Unfortunately for her, this one was different. There was something inside.
The membrane covering the bulge ripped open, and something burst out. A skeleton, oozing green Plague slime and covered over with a thin dark green skin, turned its dead gaze to her. The Plague had produced eyelike structures, but rather than just two, there was a cluster in each socket, held together by some green webbing. The effect was rather disturbing.
Sharp prongs of hardened Plagueform corpses thrust out of its hands. It moved towards her and bransished its makeshift lances at her.
She didn't even have to raise her hand. She picked up the Plaguemorph with her mind and slammed it against the wall. The skeleton within crumpled, and the thing lay still.
With little other incident, she reached the chamber of Jack Reiger.
Reiger had been transformed into a Hellion, something only a powerfully psychic human could become. Most other species had lost their appendix over time, but humans retained it. The appendix became the focal point for Plagueform construction. Hellions could channel Plagueforms through their body and use them as weapons. If not used, the Plagueforms would ooze out of its pores.
Reiger met her gaze evenly.
"Junl," he said, "you must realize that this base means nothing to me."
Normally, Junl'kaev'eft would have tried a silent approach, but Reiger was too powerful. He had probably already known she was there in any case.
She reached out with her mind to crush Reiger, but he lazily deflected the shot. He raised his hand, and a glob of Plague goo appeared in it. It separated into droplets that ran down his arm and his body to the floor. They oozed their way towards her and, once they reached her, oozed into and through her skin.
"Goodbye," he said softly.
